BEKI’s annual Tikun Leil Shavuot Night of Study will be in-person in the main sanctuary. The program will begin with the festival evening service at 8 pm in the sanctuary. The first shiur is at 8:30 pm with Nanette Stahl, Yale’s Joseph and Ceil Mazer Librarian for Judaic Studies. Her topic is "Jonathan and David in the Book of Samuel: a study of political power in the Bible." The shiur will include a close reading of the texts in Samuel that introduce us to two new biblical heroes. Please be sure to arrive before doors are locked at 9 pm.

At 9:30 pm, Becky Seashore May will lead “Making Tefilla More Personally Fruitful in Honor of the Festival of First Fruits -- Reflections on the Daily Prayers (both silly and serious) Gleaned from the last 49 Days of the Omer." As Becky has recorded her insights into traditional daily tefilla for several years, she now has more than 575 entries. To promote lively discussion, she encourages attendees to make note of any insights they have during the remainder of the Omer (though this task is optional). “Try to simply notice any word, idea, or question that jumps out at you from the text as you daven in Hebrew or English, and perhaps consider some daily prayer practice if you don't already have one,” she suggests.

Reservations to the BEKI office will be appreciated.
