Geniza Ceremony
Sunday, May 7 at 11:15am
As part of our end of year festivities we will conduct a Geniza ceremony in the yard at B'nai Jacob, to bury our shemot (papers and/or books that we want to dispose of with God’s name in Hebrew written in them). Because God’s name is holy, we don’t throw away paper on which it is written; rather, we save those books and papers in a geniza and we bury them in the earth as a sign of respect.
If you have books or papers that you would like to bury with our geniza, please bring them that morning (or before).
