Rachel Scheinerman, associate editor at My Jewish Learning, will speak about Daf Yomi and its expanding popularity, after services and the weekly kiddush lunch.

Daf Yomi is an international program to read the entire Babylonia Talmud in seven and half years at the rate of one page a day. Tens of thousands of Jews study Daf Yomi worldwide, and they are all quite literally on the same page—following a schedule fixed in 1923 in Poland by Rabbi Meir Shapiro, its founder, who envisioned the whole world as a vast Talmudic classroom connected by a global network of conversational threads.

Scheinerman, who was the web editor at the Jewish Review of Books, holds an MA in Scripture & Interpretation from Harvard Divinity School and a PhD in Rabbinic Literature from Yale University.

Sabbath rules will be observed. The community is welcome.
