The first day of Elul is, according to the Mishnah, the Rosh Hashanah for animals. To celebrate, children are invited to bring a favorite stuffed animal (“stuffie”) to BEKI on Saturday, August 19. We’ll have our usual children’s services starting at 11 am, and then, at the end of the regular service (when our kids lead Ein Keloheinu/Adon Olam), the stuffies and their owners will receive a special blessing from Rabbi Woodward.
